Virtually every successful business person will tell you that selling a product or service to a wealthier client is not only more profitable, but often EASIER.
Why is that?
Well, in my experience, clients that are wealthier and have more expensive problems to solve tend to be wealthy for a number of reasons. These reasons could be that they are more decisive, are action takers, use leverage and know how and when to use other professionals to help them get the right result.
In fact, I’d argue that those qualities are directly correlated with MOST people’s wealth.
You don’t see many rich people that can’t make decisions, don’t take action, and do everything themselves, right?
Take that sentence right there… and imagine trying to work with a client like that! How much of a pain in the *ss would that be?
Compare that with a client that knows what they want, values you, and pulls the trigger quick. What a breath of fresh air.
Now this isn’t to say that ALL you need to do to make more money is to start selling to a wealthier client, because in order to do that you’ll also have to BE better and likely take on bigger risk or sales cycles, HOWEVER – it is absolutely one of the ways to make more money.
I know people that sell very high priced homes, cars, clothing, jewelry, coaching services, business services etc, who tell me they don’t sell average (or below average) priced goods and services because it’s just not worth their time.
All this to say, if you’re looking to make MORE money – consider selling your product or service to a client with deeper pockets.
Do you pave driveways? Try to get a government contracts with renewed budgets for paved road and parking lots.
Do Dry Cleaning in a strip mall? Get a contract with a high end hotel.
Sell hot dogs on the street corner? Move your cart to the rich part of town.
You don’t always have to sell MORE things to make more money.
If you’re willing to invest in yourself and your business, making your product or service better – you can simply sell to a wealthier client.
In ‘The Wolf of Wallstreet’, Jordan Belfort’s wife told him, “Rich people don’t buy penny stocks”, to which he replied, “Why not”.
That epiphany opened up the floodgates to sell a over a BILLION dollars of penny stocks to the richest people in America, and made hundreds of millions in commissions.
