If you’re like me, you like to push yourself. That’s probably the only reason you’re reading this post – because you want to get better, and I love that.

I’ve always associated injuries with a LACK of work – as in… I didn’t work a certain muscle enough, or properly, and as a result I got injured.

I SHOULD HAVE DONE MORE.

Now I realize that’s not the brightest way to think about it, and that the opposite may be true.

The real issue might simply be that I’ve been overtraining.

The dilemma that presents is that I AM STUBBORN and I don’t want to do NOTHING. There’s no way. I’d rather be hurt and keep going for my sanity.

BUT – I think I discovered a major fitness hack.

Hot Yin Yoga.

Have you ever tried it?

My god.

While I will admit some of the Yoga culture makes me uncomfortable (weird terms (sits bones), awkward instruction (relax your eyebrows), and the whole OMMM and Namaste etc – I’m not that guy (sorry)), there is a WHOLE lot about it that I like.

Going slow, relaxing, breathing properly, clearing your mind, isometric strength and stillness of the mind – all super cool.

What I love most about it is how it makes me feel – Hot Yin particularly.

For me, it simply undoes all the damage and pain I’ve racked up since my last Yoga session. After a few BJJ classes my back hurts, hips hurt – just miserable physically. 1 Hot Yin Yoga class and my back and hips are loose, and I can breathe, I can continue training, and I am happier.

It’s really like how F1 cars pull into the pit for new tires and fresh fluids – this process just fixes you up so you can continue with a smile on your face.

For that reason – it’s a must.

I’m also not going to lie, in BJJ I’m looking for any advantage I can get, and if I can heal quicker, move slicker and train more then sign.me.up.

This isn’t to steal the spotlight from the whole ‘make me happy’ part. I have a friend who joins for some classes who is dealing with some serious PTSD from some hardcore trauma, and he’s usually super irritable and on edge around strangers as a result. After 60 mins of Hot Yin – he’s as cool as a cucumber, which in turn makes him a better husband and father as well.

So.. if you’re like me… looking for MORE to do because doing LESS just sounds awful… and you’re body and mind are getting beat up and you can’t quite catch up with your healing – try some Hot Yin Yoga

Namas.. haha just kidding.

OSSS.
